Hi I'm Erik and I'm new here, I hope I'm doing this the right way, here is my first exercise for critique, This is a great tool to keep learning, thanks
Erik, love the concept. Not gonna lie but I kindof wish you used color pencils or something simular so we can see the color palette you would've went with. All in all great job
Thank you so much, I will be coloring the design and repost.
Color finished, ill get my future exercises in color from now on, thanks
Erik,
youve got the right idea.... Just push that thinking further, such as:
-bigger, more prominent foreground swooshes
-higher contrast in shoulder spiral to bring out motion
-more variation (steps etc) in the vertical structure of the castle
-more contrast in general. Ask yourself: where am I going darkest, castle or background? Then push that as far as you can using the full value range
nice drawing overall...
Hi, thanks for the advice, i went darker on the castle and added a bit more details including the steps (I have always struggled with going darker on the designs, being afraid of messing up), also i toned up the spirals on the shoulder, I really appreciate the critiques, thank you.
