Tune in tonight at 7pm EST for an exclusive interview with up and coming dark artist @maxwelllacroix and Melbourne based and globally recognized artist, @xia?tattoo. As isolation continues throughout the outback, we open up the conversation abroad with questions relating to the dark arts. We will engage in conversation about the various tactics we utilize to learn from each other and strive to push the limits of our creative and oftentimes goth imaginations. This may be the first in a small series of interviews with Xia where we take an inside look at her journey and the trials and tribulations she has overcome to be a leader in the industry. See you there!
We'll be exploring the coverup challenge in a @ReinventingTheTattoo exercise that's open to the general public. In this project we'll start with the before photo pictured, then choose one of the two hawk heads provided (swipe). This basically gives you the option of a symmetrical layout or an asymmetrical one, as discussed in last week's Symmetry/Asymmetry workshop. Swipe again to see the Victorian ornament that your hypothetical client has provided to frame off and work with the hawk head. You can go as classic or as mech as you want with the ornament. I'll be doing the exercise in Procreate but you can follow along in any medium, digital or analog, although if analog, make sure you've got tracing paper handy. There is enough open skin in this person's back that a strong design can easily be created that provides a clear rhythm of dark and light. I'll be talking in detail about what makes good coverups work during this exercise which starts tomorrow (Monday night) at 9pm EST. You can find us at the top of the Reinventing The Tattoo news feed or, if you're not a subscriber, at the TatttooTelevision YouTube channel. As a bonus, if you tag 5 friends in this post who you think might enjoy getting their hands dirty and joining us for this exercise, you'll qualify for a FREE Biomech Encyclopedia, which I'll be giving away to a randomly chosen participant at the end of the night. Hope to see you there! #art #artclass #tattoo #tattooeducation #tattooworkshop #tattooseminar #coveruptattoo
